Welcome to another edition of Game of the Week!

Game of the Week: Harry Quantum: TV Go Home

My Take: A fun point-and-click adventure game, with enough challenge to keep you puzzled.

Developer: LongAnimals coded the game and robotJam did the art and animations, as they have done before and hopefully into the future.

Developer’s Description: Point and click adventure featuring the amazing detective: Harry Quantum.
Finish the adventure, and find all the extras!

Instructions: Point, and click

Tip: Some items can be combined with each other. Use this to your advantage!

Hit Play Game, and we are off!

Da office.

After the fool pities you, start looking around the office. You might find yourself getting a PIP (Private Investigation Point). There are 17 of these in the game.

When you’re done head to the farm. Find a way to attract a passing alien spaceship there, so you can go into space and get the signals.

You only have 30 moves to find all 4 signals. The game is like Reverse Minesweeper, in that you want to click near the bigger numbers.

I found all the signals!

The signal placement will be different each time you play, so you won’t be able to copy off me. No screen peeking!

The alien said don't touch it!

That probably wasn't smart...

Now the signals have gotten all mixed up in the crash. Hook the VR 9000 up and go inside to fix them!

Remember...who you are...

After puzzling about a bit, you must complete this memory game to be able exit the VR 9000.

Do that and you win!

Harry gets 100K!

But watch out for the twist at the end!

Anyway, here are this week’s challenges:

(Easy) Find 3 PIPs.

(Medium) Beat the game!

(Medium) Beat the game in under 15 minutes.

(Medium-Hard) Beat the game in under 5 minutes.

(Hard) Find all PIPs.

That’s it for this week! Remember, try to complete my challenges and comment on whether you liked this game and how hard or easy you found it. Thanks for reading and check back next week!

Welcome to the first ever flash game of the week! Here’s a rundown of what will be taking place with this new concept.

Every week I will pick a flash game that I’ve enjoyed during the week. I will review the game (with screenshots!) and then give a series of challenges for the reader to try to complete. I have some other ideas I may add. For now, I’ll just stick with the basics. So here we go!

Flash Game of the Week: Solipskier

My Take: This is a really fun game. A little hard to pick up at first, but once you’ve figured out the controls well enough, it becomes a lot more interesting.

Developer: Located in Ames, Iowa, this is Mikengreg’s first game released to the public.

Developer’s Description: Solipskier is a fast paced skiing game where you draw the slopes to pick up speed and do jumps. Paint your own cliffs, do tricks and slalom through gates to get huge scores!

Controls: Mouse and Left-Click to paint snow.

Tip: A little more detail on the controls. You actually have to hold the left mouse button down to paint the snow.

The main menu.

As it says, click and drag anywhere to start the game.

And we're off!

Using short up hills and long downhills is a good way to get speed early. I moved my cursor in a slow, wavy motion.

Hit green gates to boost your multiplier by 1. If you do it while in the air, you get bonus points and the multiplier goes up 2.

Go through the green gates.

However, hitting red gates will cause you to crash and end.

Different types of gates.

Be careful!

Watch out for jumps! During the jump, there will be a set space where you cannot draw, shown by an orange bar adorning a grid-like pattern. If you let go of the mouse, your character will do a trick, keeping your multiplier going. Personally, I find it tough to keep it going after a jump. I always go back to 1 for my multiplier.

Tunnels are helpful.

Going through the tunnels give you a good speed boost plus 17-18 extra multiplier if you get a Perfect Tunnel. If you go through every single gate, you get a Perfect Tunnel award for it and big points.

When you crash, the character falls down, you hear the impact of him on snow (or something harder) and Chopin’s Prelude in C Minor plays over the speakers.

Restarting. Let’s see how high of a score I can get.

My score. 3,116,680.

Meh. Not bad, not awesome. You should look online and see the scores some people get. Here’s a look at my high scores page.

Update: After I finished writing this, I had to come back and add this. I played a bit more and got an insanely high score!

My best score ever!

Note: When you go over 70 km/h the music stops. Why? It’s not a glitch. Your skier has lost his headphones. Just another little thing that makes this game so fun!

So there you have it! The first game of the week is Solipskier. Here are this week’s challenges:

(Easy-Easy) Score 250,000 points.

(Easy) Survive for a minute.

(Medium-Easy) Score 1,000,000 points.

(Medium) Lose your headphones by hitting 70 km/h.

(Medium-Hard) Get to a 50x multiplier.

(Hard) Get to a 80x multiplier.

I’ve been able to complete all of these myself, so you should too.  I want to see who can beat my scores (???) and who can get the last achievement (Hard).

That’s it for this week. Remember to comment with your completed challenges and scores! Give ideas for next week’s GotW!

Credits and kudos to my brother for giving me this idea!
